Red Sun reopens to submissions Oct 1st and Cover Contest!

We are excited to announce that Red Sun Magazine will be reopening to submissions beginning the 1st of October! Read our Guidelines for what we’re looking for.

The Red Giant is also holding a cover contest based on the cover art for issue #4, created by the incredibly talented French artist David Demaret. The rules are simple: Write a Fantasy story based on the cover art, submit your story when we reopen to subs, and the winner will be paid at a pro rate of $.06 cents a word instead of the standard $.03 cents. Word count is the same as per our Guidelines. You can write a story longer than 3,000 words, but the pay is capped at 3,000. Your story can be a Dark Fantasy, Grimdark, Sword & Sorcery, Epic Adventure, etc. as long as it’s Fantasy.

Cover contest stories should otherwise follow our Guidelines.

However, in the subject line of your email, type “Cover Contest Submission,” the name of your story, the genre, and your name. Ex: Cover Contest Submission – The Hour of the Dragon – Sword and Sorcery – Robert E. Howard.

Of course, we want more than just Fantasy stories for the contest. We also want non-contest related Science Fiction, Horror, and Speculative. I’m particularly interested in Military Sci-fi stories written by Active Duty Military and Veterans, or for that matter any stories written by Active Duty Military and Veterans (within the genres we publish).

Good luck and we look forward to your submissions when we reopen on Oct 1st!

Sincerely,
Ben Richards
